Neighbour Mourns Lebanese Man Brutally Murdered In Kano

3 Min Read

The neighbour of a 67-year-old Lebanese man brutally murdered in Kano has described the deceased as a peace-loving man.

Recall that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mohammed Musa Katsina, on Tuesday confirmed the man’s death at his Unity Road residence located in the Kano Central Business District, stating that four persons who lived with the deceased have been arrested and are co-operating with the police in their investigations.

Katsina also stated that the remains of the Lebanese man, who was not identified, had been taken for forensic examination.

Reacting to the unfortunate incident, Sabitu Bala, a man who owns a shop next to the deceased’s residence in Unity Road, Kasuwar Kwari, Kano, described him as a gentle person who would always greet his neighbours on his way out of his compound.

Speaking to The Herald, Sabitu said amidst tears that Baba (as he called the deceased) was a “silent and respected man who you would never find in any trouble”.

Sabitu, a Shabba cloth seller, said while sobbing: “Baba greets each and every one here when he comes out in the morning on his way to his company located at Sharada. Even yesterday (Monday), I saw his car coming to the house around 08.23 in the evening, and at that time I was about to leave my shop. We greeted each other. That was my last talk with him.”

“In the morning, that is today (Tuesday), I came out to the market around 08:30. Suddenly, I saw a huge crowd of people opposite my shop. Later it was discovered that Baba was killed by unidentified assassins. I shed tears for him seriously because Baba is a good man.

“And I can remember less than one week ago that he was telling me that he wanted  to go back to Lebanon to see his brother because he hadn’t seen him for eight years, and unfortunately, look at what happened to him,” Sabitu said in tears.

The latest incident is coming on the heels of a similar incident last week where unknown assailants slaughtered one Kabir Umar Gumel in his Yakasai home in the Kano Municipality, barely six days after he was declared missing by his family.
