Gov. Bello sacks PMs, DLGs, Accountant-General, Others effective immediately

Kogi State Governor

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has ordered the sack of all Permanent Secretaries, Head of Administration and Finance, DAF, and all the Directors of Local Governments in the 21 council areas effective immediately. The governor also sacked all Education Secretaries, Cashiers and Treasurer in the 21 local government areas of the state.

The sack news was conveyed by the State Head of Service, Dr. Moses Atakpa, in an emergency meeting, where all the Permanent Secretaries and Directors found out they’d been relieved of their official duties. The cashiers, Treasurers and Education Secretaries however learned of their sacks through media statement.

Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor in a statement in Lokoja, the state capital added that the Accountant General of the state was also relieved of active official duties.

He said; “I wish to confirm that Governor Yahaya Bello has directed that all Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Administration are to go on compulsory leave with immediate effect. The exemptions in this category are people in acting capacity and the Permanent Secretary, Government House.

“Also, the Accountant General has been relieved of his position while the second in command will also proceed on compulsory 30 days leave.

“At the local government level, the DLGs, treasurers, cashiers and Education Secretaries are to proceed on compulsory leave. The decision is geared towards ensuring a more efficient and productive civil service.”
