The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 30-year-old man on a three-count charge bordering on assault and inflicting grievous injury after he attacked a young man who caught him in a compromising situation with his mother in the Ejigbo area of Lagos.
According to reports, the accused, Ismaila Ibrahim, was dating the mother of the victim, Fredrick Nicole, a fact that was hidden from him until he caught them in the act on February 9, 2016, PM News reports.
A scuffle reportedly ensued during which Ibrahim attacked Nicole with a pestle, which missed his head but landed on his left hand, crushing it.
After the matter was reported at the Ejigbo police division, the victim’s mother reportedly went to the police station to confess that the suspect was his lover, pleading that the matter should be settled out of court.
However, the police refused because of the level of injury Ibrahim inflicted on Nicole.
The accused was then charged before a Magistrate’s court sitting in Ejigbo, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
He was admitted to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till March 9, 2016.
