The Kwara State Governor, has commissioned the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service. At the commissioning, the Governor mandates the Revenue board to generate not less than N5 billion monthly as against the meagre N100 million being generated.
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed disclosed that the charge became necessary in order to meet the financial burdens of the state in the face of dwindling monthly allocations from the Federal Government which has fallen to N1.4 billion from N3.5 billion.
The Governor added that his vision for the state “is to ensure that Kwara state is economically viable and self-sufficient, rising from our current position to achieve the second highest IGR per capita in Nigeria by 2019.”
Distinguished personalities present at the commissioning were captains of industries in the state, traditional rulers, artisans, various transport unions, owners of various private schools and tertiary institutions, bankers and other stakeholders being targeted for tax payments.
