The governing All Progressives Congress has denied reports that it plans to turn Nigeria into a one- party state, saying however that the party would become stronger to win future elections in the country.
The National Deputy Chairman of the party and former governor of Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni, made this known Monday evening at Akpugoeze in Oji River Local Government of Enugu State, while receiving the former governorship candidate of the defunct All Peoples Party, APP, Chief Gbazuagu Nweke Gbazuagu into the party at a colourful ceremony in the area.
Oni described Gbazuagu as a grassroots politician and a veritable asset to any party he belongs to and then asked progressives outside the party circle to come back home by joining the APC.
The sleepy town of Akpugoeze had come alive Monday when Oni, led other national officers of the party to receive Gbazuagu popularly known as GNG just as a large crowd of party supporters from all parts of the South East gathered to welcome him back into politics after nearly 15 years of absence.
