A Spanish man who died recently, aged 107, said before his death that consuming four glass cups of organic, chemical-free red wine daily led to his long life.
Antonio Docampo Garcia said he never drank water, but took two bottles of red wine, which he made himself, with lunch and two bottles with dinner.
Docampo, who died last week in Vigo, Northwestern Spain, fought in the Spanish Civil War of 1936 to 1939, which was won by forces loyal to General Francisco Franco.
According to his son, Miguel Docampo Lopez, the man could drink up to a litre and half of red wine all at once.
Confirming that his father never drank water, he said when they were both at home they sometimes drank up to 200 litres of red wine in a month.
Docampo owned a vineyard in the Spanish town of Ribadavia called Bodegas Docampo.
His vineyard produced up to 60,000 litres of red wine in a year, but he kept 3,000 litres for himself and put the rest for sale, saying it was the secret to his long life, a nephew was quoted as saying by Spanish paper, La Voz de Galicia.
