The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the Anambra State Senatorial seats vacant.
The call was made by the National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Mr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, at a press briefing in Awka, Anambra State capital, based on the ruling of the Supreme Court on January 29 which upheld Ejike Oguebego as the leader of the Anambra state PDP.
The party also gave an option of conducting a fresh election or the return of APGA candidates who were runner ups in the election as duly elected candidates on grounds that PDP did not present any candidate in the election.
Citing sections 140 and 141 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended that though the Supreme Court gave victory to the Oguebego-led executive of Anambra PDP, his candidates were denied the opportunity to contest in the election. He continued that the other faction which presented candidates were wrongly returned as having won the election and demanded withdrawal of their Certificates of Return.
