Police Arrest Man Trying To Blackmail MKO Abiola’s Wife

2 Min Read

A combined team of the Inspector General Monitoring Team and the Intelligence Response Team from the Office of the Inspector General of Police have arrested an internet fraudster for attempting to blackmail Mrs Tinu Abiola, one of the wives of late Chief MKO Abiola.

According to reports, the 26-year-old suspect identified as Caleb Nzube hacked the Twitter account of Mrs Abiola and obtained pictures of her which he later used Photoshop to alter.

The suspect reportedly used Photoshop to redesign the photo and placed a human skull in her hands, before getting her contact and threatening to publish it online, on a website he designed for that purpose, to blackmail her if she didn’t part with $5,000.

The victim then begged him to accept $2,000, which he rejected.

At this point, the disillusioned Mrs Abiola petitioned the Office of the IGP, with a complaint about the blackmailer.

The IGP then deployed the combined team which after thorough investigation stormed the suspect’s hideout in Obosi and arrested him.

It was gathered that the suspect was also, at the time of arrest, also harassing two serving senators and two others, Vanguard reports.

Nzube admitted being an online dating scammer before venturing into blackmailing, thinking it was more lucrative.

According to him, politicians, businessmen and socialites were his targets because he felt they were more sensitive to what was said about them in public.

The suspect also told newsmen that he spent hours only looking for prominent Nigerians to blackmail.
