A young man in Kano, Ado-Maje Sadik has killed his friend, a student, over a lovers quarrel.
Eyewitness reports state the suspect was a student of First Grade College, Kano until he was rusticated for unruly behaviour. According to other students, it was then the deceased, Salisu, taking advantage of his friend’s absence moved in on the suspect’s girlfriend and started toasting her.
An eyewitness told HERALD that the suspect, who was expelled from the school for unruly behaviour, had stormed the college to settle scores with his friend who he accused of snatching his girlfriend.
The eyewitness told The Herald that the incident, which occurred during the breakfast period, triggered pandemonium in the college community before normalcy was restored by the private guards attached to the school, prequel to the arrival of the police.
According to the eyewitness, as soon as the suspect arrived on the premises of the school he went straight for his target, Salisu, and landed a dirty slap to the deceased as others scampered for safety.
“I saw Salisu covered in blood screaming ya kashe ni, ya kashe ni, (he kill me, he kill me) on the floor while efforts made by other bystanders to apprehended the assailant failed, because he brandished a knife, threatening to kill whomever crossed his path”, Isma`il Abdurrahman a classmate of Ado Maje lamented.
A Kano State police spokesman, DSP Magaji Musa Majiya said the former student of First Grade College in Kano, Ado-Maje Sadik was already in custody over the killing of his friend Usman Salisu.
The suspect was apprehended after a futile attempt to escape justice, DSP Majiya confirmed.
“The suspect is now in custody at the Kwalli Police Division and would be arraigned as soon as we complete our investigation,” Majiya said.
