Assassination Attempt: APC Accuses Fayose Of Trying To Evade Justice

3 Min Read

The All Progress Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has accused the State Governor Ayodele Fayose of pulling a stunt to escape justice after the State House of Assembly raised an alarm over an assassination attempt on the governor’s life.

The alarm was raised following the receipt by the House of a Military Panel report on the conduct of soldiers in the June 21, 2014 governorship election.

After rejecting the Panel’s report, the House alleged that there had been a plot to assassinate the governor if the APC failed to wrest power from him.

Also, the House said that President Muhammadu Buhari should be held responsible if any evil befalls Governor Fayose.

But in a swift response, the APC in Ekiti accused the governor of adopting an old gimmick to pursue a predetermined pan.

The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Taiwo Olatunbosun, appealed to the security agencies in the land including the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police and the Office of the National Security Adviser to keep the Governor and his cronies under watch.

In a statement on Wednesday, Olatunbosun said: “Just last year during the House of Assembly crisis, his media aide raised an alarm that APC members were planning to invade the Assembly and burn it down while in actual fact, it was Fayose who imported thugs from Ibadan in 12 vehicles to attack the Assembly to prevent the 19 APC lawmakers from sitting.

“Last week, Fayose drew attention to himself claiming that two men purportedly from the DSS came to him with a fake report of the army panel probing Ekitigate and ordered their arrest.

“Those who know Fayose well knows that he clothed the men and orchestrated the whole scenario to draw public sympathy. Where are the arrested men now and why is Fayose not interested in their prosecution? Creating make- believe scene is one of the governor’s old tricks but this is outdated as Ekiti people are wiser.

“We are aware that Fayose desperately needs international support to get away with his crimes.

“This cheap blackmail has failed because the international community has since retraced its steps after listening to Fayose and his gang planning the subversion of the constitution.”
