A 25-year-old business man has been arraigned before the Kasuwar Nama Upper Area Court, for alleged homosexuality with a 10-year-old boy.

The accused, Kabiru Danladi, who resides in Jos, allegedly committed the offence on Feb. 20 at about 4.p.m.

According to the Police’s  First Information Report (FIR), on the same date at about 5 p.m, one Nafisatu Salihu reported to the  ‘C’ Divisional  police station that the accused had a sexual intercourse with the victim through his anus.

It stated that the complainant informed the police that when she came back from the market, the boy was nowhere to be found.

“But when the boy later resurfaced, he told her that it was the accused that took him to an uncompleted building to have sex with him.

The FIR said the offence was contrary to Section 275 of the Penal Code.

The accused pleaded not guilty when the charge was read out

Counsel to the accused, Mr. Ahmed Shehu, applied for the bail of his client, saying that his client was presumed innocent until proved otherwise.

Shehu assured the court that his client would provide competent surety and would not jump bail as he had a lucrative business in Jos.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr. Ashiru Ibrahim, however, objected to the bail application on the ground that the matter was still under investigation and had generated public interest.

Ibrahim said the accused might tamper with the on-going investigation if granted bail.

However, the presiding judge, Malam Mustapha Hassan, admitted him on bail in the sum of N150, 000 with a competent surety who must have landed property within the jurisdiction of the court.

The case was adjourned to April 10 for further hearing.
