No fewer than four student hostels at Girls Secondary School Gwarzo in Kano State have been razed down by fire.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night.
One of the gate men of the school who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the incident happened when the students of the school were in their classes.
According to the witness, the fire also destroyed student’s properties worth millions of Naira in the four affected hostels.
Although no life was lost, the four hostels were completely destroyed by the fire.
Personnel of the State Fire Service in Gwarzo area and some good Samaritans were able to put out the fire.
Alhaji Balarabe Kabara, the Director of the Kano state fire service, confirmed the incident, saying that the fire occurred when the students were fortunately still in class.
He stated that no life was lost during the incident, but the fire destroyed everything in the affected 4 hostels.
GSS is the third secondary school in the state to be gutted by fire since the Harmattan season set in.
No fewer than seven female students lost their lives in similar incident at Government Girls Secondary School Gezawa in which many others sustained injuries.
