A British woman has narrated her harrowing experience of being raped by a next-door neighbour who pounced on her while she was asleep and defiled her, all the while recording the whole episode on his mobile phone.
Ms Jessica McDonald, 22, a resident of Newcastle said she had paid a visit to a next-door neighbour, Glen Mills, 31, for a catch-up and a drink when she fell asleep.
The mother of one told Daily Mail that she woke up sometime after to find Mills forcing himself on her and recording it.
While she pleaded with him to stop, he continued as if he could not hear her pleas. “Afterwards he was sitting there as if nothing had happened. I felt horrible, it made me feel vile,” she said.
She was however able to finally get him off her and run to her flat.
According to her, she broke down in tears after getting to her apartment and only called police afterwards.
When he was arrested, Mills denied two charges of rape but changed his plea to guilty after police showed him video evidence of his crime.
A Newcastle Crime Court then sentenced him to six years in prison in September. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
McDonald said she considered keeping the matter a secret but decided to come out with her story to help other girls who might have suffered or will suffer such fate.
“I want to warn other girls to be on guard. This kind of thing can happen to anyone. Going to the police can be scary, and I know victims might worry they will not be believed.
“The police do take attacks like these very seriously. Now Glen has been jailed I feel like I can in some way move on,” she said.
