Wonders, they say, shall never end. That was the expression on the lips of residents of Esigie Street in Benin, Edo State where a pastor was accused of burying a charm, believed to be a live animal, in the front of his church.

Reports say the cleric identified as Apostle Ikenna Okafor was arrested on Sunday by the men of the Edo State Police Command, a move which prevented him from being lynched by angry residents who besieged the church.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to Vanguard, the pastor buried the live object around 2am on Sunday morning and equally performed a little ritual which involved walking round the church several times.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Osifo Abiodun confirmed the incident and said the suspect was already helping police in their investigation.
