Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu the widow of late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, yesterday condemned the demolition of the Ojukwu Memorial Library in Owerri by unknown persons.
It would be recalled that unknown persons had last Saturday reduced the Ojukwu memorial library that had reached roofing level to rubbles.
Bianca visited the site alongside Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, former Information minister, Professor Dora Akunyili and Chairman of South-East traditional rulers, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya.
The former beauty queen said it was unfortunate that some people could conspire to destroy what was set to celebrate the name of her late husband. She said that those who carried out the act were not working for the interest of Ndigbo.
While inspecting the damaged center, Governor Obi said he embarked on the inspection to have a firsthand assessment of the level of damage done to the multi billion naira edifice.
He said it was unfortunate that some people destroyed a structure erected to immortalize the name of the late Ojukwu who represented the strength and symbol of the Igbo.
The Governor however said he will ensure that the demolished library is re-built again.
Meanwhile, the brain behind the library, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), said the demolition was the handiwork of anti-Igbo elements.
