A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted a drug suspect bail of N10 million with two sureties in like sum, after she was arraigned before the court on a one-count charge of drug trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The suspect, 38-year-old Alake Abdulrazaq, was allegedly caught in Lagos on October 12 with about 4.5 kilogrammes of a product suspected to be cocaine while trying to board an Ethiopian airline flight to India at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport.
According to the prosecutor, Abu Ibrahim, the offence contravenes Section 11(a) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation, 2004.
She however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
However, the accused was granted bail by Justice Sailu Saidu following an application by defence counsel, Lilian Omotunde.
If found guilty, the accused faces possibility of a life sentence.
The case has been adjourned till February 2, 2016, for trial.
