Two Nigerians have been included in a list compiled by American websitewww.ranker.com detailing the most famous ‘prophets’ in history.
T.B. Joshua, Pastor of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) was included at number 15 while Joseph Ayo Babalola, the founder of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), made it to 36.
Accorder to Ranker’s website, they have “built one of the world’s largest opinion databases, collecting more than 250 million user votes”.
The website, which provides ‘crowd-sourced rankings’, attracts more than 20 million monthly visits.
The majority of the 79 ‘prophets’ chronicled by the website are ancient figures from Biblical or Islamic history such as Moses, Shuaib and Isaiah. Topping the list is Jesus Christ.
“This list of notable prophets is ordered by their level of prominence,” Ranker explained in the list’s introduction. “What they have in common is that they’re all renowned prophets.”
Joshua is the only individual mentioned who is currently alive and one of seven included from the modern era.
Babalola, who was credited with popularising ‘Aladura’ in Nigeria and across Africa, died in 1959.
T.B. Joshua’s alleged prophecies about world events have proved controversial and often stir debate on social media after their release.
The cleric claims to have predicted world events such as the terrorist attacks in Paris, the mysterious disappearance of Malaysian Flight MH370 and the death of pop legend Michael Jackson.
The accolade comes just a week after Joshua was named ‘Yoruba Man Of The Year’ for his extensive philanthropic endeavours.
