In this 1963 photo, two-year-old future American President, Barack Obama, could be seen laughing with his mom, Ann Dunham.
His mother, a White American woman, who was born in 1942, gave birth to him in 1961 while she was married to his father, Barack Obama Snr between 1961 and 1964.
She was an anthropologist and got a doctorate degree (PhD) in the subject area.
She died in 1995, aged 52, of uterine cancer.
After becoming the 44th American President, Obama said of her in an interview: she was “the dominant figure in my formative years … The values she taught me continue to be my touchstone when it comes to how I go about the world of politics.”
