The All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange continued its downward spiral with a 0.84% loss, as Nigeria’s Finance Minister predicted a tough 2016. The market ended yesterday with a 0.33% (90 points) gain.
The local bourse ended the day at 26,950.76 points, while Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N9.2 Trillion.
A total of 3,265 deals were struck today, an increase from 2,710 deals recorded yesterday, while the total volume of shares traded on the floor today were 189,320,023 and the total value of transactions recorded today was N3.1 Billion.
UNILEVER led the gainers chart adding N2.05 to close at N44.05 followed by JBERGER and FLOURMILL which added N1.89 and N1.02 close at N39.7 and N22.02 respectively; ETI and PRESCO added N0.74 and N0.2 to close at N16.64 and N32.5 respectively.
The losers chart was led by NESTLE who lost N10.3 to close with a share price of N800 followed by GUINNESS and SEPLAT who lost N5.45 and N3.49 to close with share prices of N122 and N206.51 respectively; NB and UACN lost N1.9 and N1.07 to close with share prices of N117.1 and N22.61 respectively.
The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were UBA with shares valued at N76 Million, ZENITHBANK with shares valued at N258 Million, GUARANTY with shares valued at N346 Million, TRANSCORP with shares valued at N25 Million and TIGERBRANDS with shares valued at N19 Million.
The market breadth close negative as UNILEVER led 14 Gainers against 39 losers led by NESTLE.
