Two suspected carjackers died when their stolen Toyota Land Cruiser Prado vehicle fell over a bridge and crashed into an empty residential building in Zuba in Abuja.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the incident occurred on Monday when the carjackers who were three in number tried to get away with the stolen vehicle.
A Police source said that two of the suspected car snatchers died instantly when the crash occurred, while the third was fatally injured.
He added that the suspects were on top speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle and fell from the bridge.
The Police source who craved anonymity said, “It was about 3 a.m. when people from the neighbourhood came to the police station to report the accident.
“On reaching here, the two were already dead and the third badly injured and unconscious.
“The information we got was that the car was snatched at gunpoint in the town and men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) were chasing them.
“In their bid to elude SARS, they were on high speed and could not control the vehicle anymore and they fell off the flyover and rammed into this building,” he said.
He disclosed that the police recovered some weapons, which include pistols, from the wreckage.
