The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has expressed his displeasure with the actions of Nigerians who always crave foreign-made products.
He disclosed this in an interview with Television Continental in his palace on Tuesday.
According to the Ooni, excessive love for foreign-made products is harming the Nigerian economy and putting pressure on foreign exchange.
The monarch cited an example of some industrious Igbo businessmen friends who produce goods here and brand them ‘Made in China’, ‘Made in Taiwan’, because Nigerians would not buy them if they were branded ‘Made in Nigeria’.
Ooni Ogunwusi said he had always been a lover of made-in-Nigeria products, revealing that at least 60 per cent of his clothing was always Nigerian made at any point in time.
Also, he said his love for Nigeria-made products made him transport most of the furniture in his palace from his factory in Lagos.
He called on Nigerians to embrace made in Nigeria products because it is the best way to revive our ailing economy.
Before his ascension to the throne, the Ooni was an accomplished businessman with business interests in property development and other areas.
