Three persons lost their lives while two others were seriously injured after a vehicle plunged into a bridge at Ushafa, along Dutse-Bwari expressway in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
It was gathered that a Toyota Carina 2 car, with registration number, AE 233 YLA, carrying five passengers, crashed under the bridge suddenly.
An eyewitness said the driver, who was on top speed, on approaching the bridge, lost control and veered off the road and plunged into the river.
He said the three persons died on the spot as they were trapped in the car, which was damaged beyond repair.
Similarly, an articulated truck was also involved in an accident same day while making a u-turn along Dutse-Bupma road in the area.
It was learnt that the driver of the truck with registration number, EH 345 DKA, rammed into a ditch after it lost control, leaving two persons injured.
Confirming both accidents, unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dutse, Henry Igwe, said three persons died in the car that plunged into the river, adding that the injured were rescued through the combined efforts of his men and other security operatives.
He said the injured in both crashes were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were treated and had since been discharged.
