All Share Index Rises By 0.99%

The All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange added 0.99% (272 points) compared to a 0.10% (71 points) loss yesterday. The gain ended 2 weeks of losses.  The local bourse ended the day at 27,559.18 points, while Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N9.47 Trillion.

A total of 2,524 deals were struck today, a reduction from 2,857 deals recorded yesterday, while the total volume of shares traded on the floor today were 249,093,993 and the total value of transactions recorded today was N3 Billion.

NB the gainers chart for the second time in a row adding N4.0 to close at N120 followed by DANGCEM and PRESCO which added N2 and N1.2 close at N160 and N32.2 respectively; PZ and GUINNESSS added N1 and N0.68 to close at N26 and N123.8 respectively.

The losers chart was led by WAPCO who lost N0.64 to close with a share price of N90.61 followed by IKEJAHOTEL and PORTPAINT who lost N0.35 and N0.19 to close with share prices of N3.34 and N3.61 respectively; CAVERTON and INTBREW lost N0.12 and N0.11 to close with share prices of N2.47 and N15.66 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were GUARANTY with shares valued at N1.7 Billion, FBNH with shares valued at N330 Million, ZENITHBANK with shares valued at N287 Million, EQUITYASUR with shares valued at N5 Million and UCAP with shares valued at N11 Million.
