All Share Index Dips Again, Investors Count Losses

The Nigerian Stock Exchange continued its downward today, as the ASI dropped by 0.10% (17 points) compared with a 0.26%(71 points) loss recorded at the last trading yesterday. Active investors watched from the sidelines as a deluge of shares were sold off. The local bourse ended the day at 27,287.29 points, while Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N9.38 Trillion.

A total of 2,857 deals were struck today, a reduction from 2,669 deals recorded yesterday, while the total volume of shares traded on the floor today were 383,383,471 and the total value of transactions recorded today was N5.3 Billion.

UNILEVER the gainers chart for the second time in a row adding N4.08 to close at N43.98 followed by WAPCO and TOTAL which added N2.14 and N1.93 close at N91.25 and N147 respectively; GUINNESS and DANGCEM added N1.82 and N0.95 to close at N123.12 and N158 respectively.

The losers chart was led by FO who lost N13.08 to close with a share price of N248.65 followed by SEPLAT and NESTLE who lost N10 and N3.01 to close with share prices of N207 and N807 respectively; NB and UACN lost N1.97 and N1.34 to close with share prices of N116 and N25.61 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were GUARANTY with shares valued at N2.5 Billion, UNHOMES with shares valued at N495 Million, FBNH with shares valued at N141 Million, ZENITHBANK with shares valued at N248 Million and MANSARD with shares valued at N39 Million.

Market breadth closed negative as UNILEVER led 18 Gainers against 27 Losers led by FO.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -21.26%
