Blood thirsty Fulani Herdsmen once again unleashed terror in Nasarawa state.
The unanticipated attack left no fewer than 50 people dead, while properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.
It was learnt that the tragic incident occurred at Kwandere village in Lafia North Local Government Area at about 1p.m.
Source say that Kwandere Village where the herdsmen are taking refuge has suddenly become the base from where they operate and carry out reprisal attack on nearby villages.
The attack was said to have disrupted the academic activities of the two state-owned institutions- Nasarawa State Polytechnic and The College of Agriculture and the Polytechnic, Lafia as students were seen running helter skelter for fear of attack by Fulanis from the nearby village.
Investigations revealed that a student of one of the institutions was among the casualties.
In order to protest the senseless killing of their fellow student, the school was brought to a standstill as students were said to have barricaded the main entrance into the state capital for many hours before the police dispersed them.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Micheal Ada, confirmed the crisis, saying only two people died. He however refuted claims that a student was among the casualties.
The PPRO said about six Fulanis were arrested at the point of the crisis and one AK-47 riffle with 16 life ammunition being recovered from them.
