Stock Exchange Starts Week With 1.10% Dip

The primary index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange started the week with a 1.10% loss after losing 0.26% at its last trading session on Friday. The ASI lost 313 basis points to end the day at 27,820.49 basis points, while Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N9.56 Trillion.

A total of 2,663 deals were struck today, an increase from 2,528 deals recorded yesterday, while the total volume of shares traded on the floor today were 154,791,574 and the total value of transactions recorded today was N2.2 Billion.

PZ led the gainers chart today adding N0.88 to close at N27.13 followed by CAP and 7UP which added N0.72 and N0.45 close at N38.50 and N184 respectively; PORTPAINT and BERGER added N0.17 and N0.15 to close at N4.05 and N9.75 respectively.

The losers chart was led by GUINNESS who lost N6.4 to close with a share price of N121.84 followed by NB and ETI who lost N5 and N0.63 to close with share prices of N115 and N16.50 respectively; WAPCO and ZENITHBANK lost N0.5 and N0.49 to close with share prices of N89.50 and N16.01 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were ZENITHBANK with shares valued at N684 Million, FBNH with shares valued at N103 Million, DIAMONDBNK with shares valued at N37 Million, FIDELITYBK with shares valued at N19 Million and UBA with shares valued at N42 Million.

Market breadth closed negative as PZ led 8 Gainers against 28 Losers led by GUINNESS.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -19.73%.
