Super Eagles were unhappy they were not paid their win bonus in cash after the World Cup qualifier against Swaziland as is the practice following a new arrangement of electronic transfer of these bonuses.
“The players were unhappy that they did not receive cash for their bonuses. The NFF have already directed the players to open foreign accounts at a particular bank so this did not come to them as a surprise,” said one account of the story.
Officials and the players held a meeting after the match in Port Harcourt with one of the talking points being the new form of payment for them.
The Eagles will be paid $5,000-a-man for the 2-0 win over Swaziland in Port Harcourt.
They also received $40,000 from the Rivers State Government, who promised them $20,000-a-goal for the match against Swaziland.
