Wike Redeems $40,000 Pledge To Super Eagles

Governor of Rivers of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has redeemed the price tag of $40,000 for two goals scored by the Super Eagles against the Swaziland national team while praising the team for defeating the Swaziland at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Tuesday in Port Harcourt which led to the team’s 2-0 victory.

Governor Wike while congratulating the national team redeemed his pledge of $40,000 to the team for scoring two goals in the crucial World Cup Qualifier. The governor had pledged $20,000 for every goal scored by the team in a move aimed at motivating the National team.

He also commended the Technical Crew of the National Team for the tactical preparation of the Super Eagles and the technical inputs that ensured that the team emerged victorious.

While assuring the Super Eagles and the Nigerian Football Federation of the continued support of the government and people of Rivers State, Governor Wike urged them to remain focused in their quest to win the World Cup ticket for the 2018 soccer fiesta.

The Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt has proved to be a winning ground for National Football Teams of the country, since Governor Wike started playing host to the Nigerian Football Federation.

Nigeria will now be included in the group phase of the qualifiers which includes five groups of four teams each with the overall group winners qualifying for the World Cup in Russia in 2018.
