Ebola Goes To Brazil

1 Min Read

A Brazilian man is being tested for a suspected case of Ebola, Brazilian health minister, Marcelo Castro, has told the media.

The 46-year-old man, whose name was not given, reportedly visited Guinea, one of the hotbeds of the dreaded Ebola in West Africa.

Castro said the man visited hospital complaining of symptoms that includes high fever, one major symptom of the Ebola Virus Disease.

He is presently being tested and results are expected in 24 hours, Castro said.

If confirmed, it will be the first case of the disease in the country.

The man reportedly went to hospital on November 6, not long after returning from the West African country.

The health minister says all the hospital staff that came in contact with him are being monitored.

Guinea is the only African country still battling with the disease, after Liberia was declared Ebola-free on September 3 and Sierra Leone on November 7.
