The Government of the United Kingdom has debunked rumours making the rounds that convicted former Liberian strongman, Charles Taylor is dead.
In an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the UK Ministry of Justice said, contrary to news making the rounds on social media, the 67-year-old is alive.
He was sentenced to 50 years in prison in May 2012 by a United Nations-backed special court for backing rebels in Sierra Leone during the highly-destructive 1991-2002 civil war.
Taylor, the 22nd President of Liberia, was found guilty of all eleven charges levelled against him, including terror, murder and rape.
He is presently into the fourth year of his sentence.
