Pro-Biafra protests sprang up in Enugu metropolis on Sunday when members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) stormed the coal city in their hundreds.
The protesters who were demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and calling for the sovereign state of Biafra marched through major streets in the state in a peaceful manner.
While restating their commitment to their cause, they mouthed anti-Nigeria and anti-federal government invectives.
Some early church goers were said to have joined the protesting IPOB members, chanting solidarity songs.
Men of the Nigeria Police were also on hand to prevent any unlawful acts by the group, just as motorists and motorcycle riders were allowed to go about their legitimate businesses unmolested.
