This is not the best of times for Chelsea football club, as the club lost its 7th English Premier League game in 12 on Saturday against Stoke City.
The 1-0 loss meant that Chelsea had now lost 3 straight EPL games this season.
However, Chelsea players have reportedly thrown their weight behind the Portuguese tactician, under whom they won the league title last season.
According to stand-in first choice goalkeeper, Asmir Begovic, the manager has the players’ support and they believe he can revive the club’s dwindling fortunes.
“We are behind the manager – you can see that from our performances.
“We think he is the right man and someone we work hard for. His spirit and his presence is always there. We wanted to get a result for him,” Begovic said.
Records show that the last time Chelsea would lose 7 in 12 EPL games in the 1978-1979 season, which saw them relegated from the top flight.
The club are rooted to the 16th spot on the log and are three points above the relegation zone.
