Standing for Six Hours Daily May Prevent Weight Gain

1 Min Read

A new study has revealed that people who stand for six hours daily have a lower like hood of gaining more weight.

A research team led by Dr Kerem Shuval, Director of Physical Activity & Nutrition Research at the American Cancer Society observed over 7,000 adults.

The association between standing time and obesity was determined through three measures: body mass index (BMI), body fat percentage, and waist circumference.

The study found that in men standing half the time was associated with a 59 per cent reduced likelihood of obesity.

While in women, the likelihood of obesity was reduced by 57 per cent.

The study was published in the journal Mayo Clinic Proceedings.
