In Imo State: The Egyptians We See, We Shall See Them No More – Joseph Chimezie

5 Min Read

The Egyptians we see in Imo state, we shall see them no more because the Moses of our time, the Field Marshal of Ndi Imo, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha,  who led other troops and rescued Nigeria from 16 years of PDP profligacy and brigandage has finally rescued us from the chains of the remaining Egyptians.

The peoples governor is not a man that rests on his oars. Hence the reason why immediately after his  inauguration for a 2nd term, on May 29th, 2015, along side other progressive governors came together and suggested bail out funds to states that were greatly affected by the legacy of profligacy promoted by the past PDP administration at the centre which ensured that states went broke as soon as revenue from oil took a dip. The government of Imo state was not left out in the irreversible retrogression.

As the pendulum of time thicked, some conceited politicians in Imo state who had a-rating appearance in all the shenanigans perpetrated to ensure they took over power in Imo state in the last governorship election, along side their crass supporters took advantage of the impuisance and ensconced themselves in persistent manipulative behaviours. Catena of lies were told and pyramids of speculations were made in order to discredit the peoples governor’s lasting laudable legacies.

The one week industrial action that preceded the economic crunch by Imo state civil servants in July to press home their demands, wouldn’t have taken place if the Egyptians we had in Imo state had not meddled in the affairs of the organized labour unions.

The more they rudely hector at the achievements of the governor, the more the peoples governor was/is being lauded and garlanded every where he goes for his commendable achievements.

When it became obvious their verbal inflations and venoms against the peoples governor had no traction with the good people of Imo state— They hurriedly ensembled self opinionated vendors of public opinions that pandered to the whims and caprices of the Egyptians in Imo state and their duties were to hack into the carcases of the peoples governor’s policies with bullets of unjust criticisms.

During the electioneering period, nothing was spared in decorum, like the children of Israelites asked Moses “if he had brought them out of their land to come and die in the wilderness”? Imolites were not left out in the bewildered wilderness, our state was almost turned to a theatre of internecine war. Highly detached politicians took advantage of the situation to cause mayhem. Politically motivated kidnappings, armed roberries and other social vices took centre stage.

But in the face of oppression, the Field Marshal of Imo state, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha charged his troops, (the good people of Imo state) to remain law abiding and shouldn’t take laws into their hands, but rather, should use their voters’ cards and send tyranny away. That charging was apt as the good people of Imo state who had shown tyranny the way out in 2011 repeated it again in the April 2015 governorship election and won’t let it back no matter how beautiful it is painted.

The rest they say, is now history as Imo state has continued to score a number of firsts in education, staff’s welfare, security, infrastructure, road construction/rehabilitation, industries, factories, job creation/employment opportunities, etc.

The people has spoken, “Rochas We Know”, remains the choice of the overwhelming majority.
Hence forth, the Egyptians we see in Imo state, we shall see them no more because the apex court in our nation has hit the final nail on the heads of the remaining Egyptians.

Joseph Chimezie: Writes from Owerri, Imo State.
