Ghost Workers: EFCC Interrogates Plateau Officials

2 Min Read

The Plateau State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Mr. Yiljap Abraham, said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has begun interrogation of some state officials in order to burst ghost workers’ syndicate.

The state governor, Jonah Jang, has persistently  complained of syndicates within the state civil service behind such atrocity and defrauding the state millions of Naira on a monthly basis.

While speaking with newsmen in Jos, Abraham said in order for the government to rid the system and as well reduce the menace of ghost workers to the barest minimum, those suspected to be accomplices had been handed over to the EFCC.

“The EFCC has waded into the matter. Government’s position is that it would reposition the state’s civil service as an engine room for effective performance in the state” he said.

He also said that the state government would spend over N800 million in building a civil service institution to train civil servants to be more productive and efficient.

On the other hand, the commissioner condemned the attack on Du Village by unknown persons, which led to the death of two people, charging the people of the state to be more vigilant and not take the relative peace in the state for granted.

Abraham who gave the names of those Killed as Pwajok Gyang and Davou Paul, said government was working hard with security operatives to ensure that lasting peace returned back to the state.

He therefore urged security operatives to wake up to their responsibility at responding swiftly whenever there was an attack.
