Lady Gaga Reveals She Has Battled Depression and Anxiety Her Whole Life

2 Min Read
4. Lady Gaga ($59 million) Gaga has remained one of the biggest names in the music industry for nearly a decade, pushing limits with her over-the-top performances and fashion choices. Aside from playing 66 shows during our scoring period, Gaga also cashed in from deals with Versace and MAC, as well as her own Fame fragrance.

27-year-old singer Lady Gaga says she wants to reach out to help young people who are emotionally suffering in America and other parts of the world that is why she launched her Born This Way foundation.

She spoke to Billboard magazine recently about her own troubled past as a way to relate with today’s youth.

‘I’ve suffered through depression and anxiety my entire life, I still suffer with it every single day,’ the blonde crooner admitted. ‘I just want these kids to know that the depth they feel as human beings is normal. We were born that way.’

She then took a dig at social media. Saying, ‘This modern thing, where everyone is feeling shallow and less connected? Its not human.  Depression and anxiety really link them.’ She said.

And the Poker Face star feels there is something sad about how young people no longer socialize in person.

‘There is something in the way that we are now, with our cell phones and people are not looking at each other and not being in the moment with each other, that kids feel isolated,’ Gaga explained.

‘They read all of this extremely hateful language on the Internet. The internet is a toilet. It is. It used to be a fantastic resource – but you have to sort through sh** to find the good stuff.’

And the New York native feels something needs to be done.

‘These kids just want to feel human, but they feel like robots, They don’t understand why they’re so sad. There are scientific reasons, which the foundation researches, why you feel sad when you look at your phone all day.’
