He sensationally quit the band in March saying he wanted to be a ‘normal 22-year-old.’ But One Direction’s Liam Payne has shed more light on Zayn Malik’s shock departure, revealing that one of the reasons he left after five years was because of the band’s music.
Speaking earlier today to Kate Garraway on TV programme Good Morning Britain alongside fellow 1D star Louis Tomlinson, the Wolverhampton-born singer said: ‘One Direction was never really Zayn’s kind of bag, if you know what I mean.’
He elaborated: ‘His taste in music was a bit different, and I guess that’s kind of what drove him to do what he did in the end, which is not necessarily a bad thing.’
Liam, 22, added that the situation at the time was a ‘disaster’ but that it’s worked out well for everyone involved.
He revealed: ‘Everyone’s come out fine from it, thanks to our beautiful fans. And he’s off doing what he loves as well, so both parties are winners in the end of a disaster of a situation. It’s all good.’
