We Will Rescue Chibok Girls – Defence HQ

2 Min Read

There is still hope for the rescue of Chibok girls and other victims of Boko Haram’s kidnappings, the Defence Headquarters said on Sunday.

In a statement by Acting Director of Defence Information, Col. Rabe Abubakar, the military was working round the clock to make sure that the girls were rescued.

He made the disclosure in a response to reports concerning the peril faced by the girls and other victims that have been circulated in the media in recent times.

Abubakar said: “the Nigerian military and other security agencies are working round the clock to secure the release of not only the Chibok girls but other innocent citizens who are held hostage by the terrorists.”

“The military, being a component of the society, is equally worried and is doing everything possible to address the current security challenges.

“The search for abducted Chibok school girls and the rescue of other Nigerian in hostage has never relapse as could be attested to in recent times where hundreds of women and children were rescued by the military through its coordinated operations.

“The military will continue to sustain the operation until the entire North East is cleared of all terrorists and miscreants,” he averred.

Refuting the report of an alleged Boko Haram escapee that most of the kidnapped girls were pregnant and suffering from Vesico Vagina Fistula (VVF), Abubakar urged the media to always verify information of such nature before going to press.

“The DHQ is not unmindful of the media’s good intention in this regards however, we wish to advise reporters and any other stakeholders to be good partners in ensuring their safe rescue and successful termination of terrorists campaign,” he stressed.
