Falae: I Support Afenifere’s Decision on Herdsmen – Fani-Kayode

2 Min Read

Erstwhile Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has thrown his weight behind the decision by prominent Yoruba elders to resist Fulani herdsmen’s nomadic cattle-rearing activities in the south west geo-political zone if the activities are not checked.

It will be recalled that Yoruba elders under the auspices of Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, rising from an emergency security meeting held in Ibadan, Oyo state on Thursday concerning the kidnapping of Chief Olu Falae, threatened to resist the Fulani herdsmen’s activities.

The Nigeria Police had earlier confirmed that the abduction of the former Secretary to the Federal Government was orchestrated by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Fani-Kayode, who was expected to join the elders at the meeting but arrived late, disclosed that he was caught in traffic on the Kogi-Lokoja road and so could not make it on time.

He said: ‎”What they have done is long overdue and it is important that we keep it up. The Yoruba must come together and stand united against those that seek to divide, shame and humiliate us and who wish to turn us into second class citizens.”

Berating the federal government for its failure to provide adequate security for lives and property, the politician charged the Yoruba elders to be ready to take their destiny into their hands when it comes to defending their territory.
