Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old boy who was arrested for bringing a homemade clock to school, has been showered with gifts by one of world’s biggest tech companies, Microsoft.
The gifts were presented by Alia Salem, Executive Director of the Dallas-Worth Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations on Monday.
According to tech blog Tech Insider, the gifts presented to the boy include:
- a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 ($700 to $1,400 value)
- a Cube 3D printer with cartridges and filaments ($1,000-plus value)
- an Office 365 subscription ($100 per year)
- a Raspberry Pi 2 computer ($35 value)
- a Microsoft Band fitness tracker ($180 value)
Other corporate institutions and tech companies also extended support to Mohamed in various ways. He got an invitation from Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg; a reserved spot at its weekend science fair from Google; and, an invitation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to visit its campus.
Ahmed Mohamed was on September 14 arrested, taken away in handcuffs and suspended from his Irvine MacArthur High School for taking to school a homemade clock that school authorities and local police said looked like a “bomb.”
