Speaking in a recent interview for NME magazine, superstar musician Rihanna explained that she and Taylor Swift are worlds apart when it comes to their brands – insisting the Love Story hitmaker is a role model, while she is most certainly not.
Speaking candidly, the 27-year-old explained: ‘I don’t think I would. I just don’t think it makes sense.
‘I don’t think our brands are the same: I don’t think they match, I don’t think our audiences are the same. In my mind she’s a role model, I’m not.’
It’s not the first time the Bajan beauty – famous for her racy onstage persona and barely-there outfits, has insisted she is a performer, not someone to morally guide her young fans.
Speaking last year to USA Today, she explained she hated the term ‘role model’, and that people should always try to live their own lives.
She explained: ‘I don’t like to use that word because people have their own opinion on what that means to them.
‘I can’t really say I’m a role model. I’m not perfect. I’m not trying to sell that. ‘I want people to have fun but be responsible, protect themselves and be in control of your life. You can never judge people. I always made that a point. You never know what someone is going through.’
