The Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has leapt to the defence of the Lagos State governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode who has been accused of rubbishing and ridiculing his predecessor, Mr Babatunde Fashola with his policies as well as statements.
According to the Publicity Secretary of APC in Lagos State, Abiodun Salami, the ongoing restructuring of ministries and agencies of government by the governor, was not targeted at the former governor.
Salami further stated that Ambode embarked on the mission of restructuring the system for a better working of government and not at discrediting Fashola as alleged.
Salami further explained that it is only those who are out to cause mischief who should think that Ambode’s restructuring was aimed at witch hunting Fashola because the existing relationship between the two leaders is cordial.
“Fashola followed Ambode throughout the period of the campaign and gave the needed support. I don’t think the two sons of the same parents are fighting as some people alleged,” he said.
He described Fashola as the selling point of the party during the presidential and governorship elections in the state which gave the party the desired victory.
“Fashola did his best for the state throughout his tenure which is known to every Lagosian.” Salami described APC as indivisible family that would remain one despite effort of some external forces to cause disaffection among the leadership. He urged Lagosians to disregard all the rumours about the strain relationship between the governor and his predecessor because there are not true.
