Former Real Madrid star Angel di Maria has given his reasons why he departed Manchester United after just one year, saying he and his family never settled in Manchester.
He lasted one year with Manchester United before being sold to PSG.
He told Le Parisien: “Honestly, we were not happy. In the beginning, yes, a little. Then things got complicated. Life in England was a little difficult.
“It is not easy for a South American. Some do it very well. And for others, adaptation is more difficult. I did not have a very good relationship with the coach (Louis van Gaal), so I think the decision to join Paris was the best solution.”
Di Maria continued: “Did the burglary traumatize me? Yes, and my family more. From there, it was not reasonable to stay there. My family was not well, my daughter suffered. So the most important thing was to leave.
“If I think my life will be happier in Paris? I think yes. From the little I’ve seen, our life here in France is more like the one we were leading in Spain or Portugal. And for now, we are 100% satisfied.”
