The Osun State Government has allegedly ordered all civil servants in the state to show their primary school leaving certificates before they can be paid the backlog of salary arrears owed them by the government.
According to workers who would not reveal their identities for fear of victimization, they were instructed to attach a photocopy of their original primary school certificates to a screening form given to them by the government.
The government had early complained of the over-blown nature of its workforce, while attributing its inability to pay workers’ salaries to a 40 per cent decrease in federal allocation to the state in the last two years.
The Osun State Government was yet to respond to this latest accusation as at press time.
