Lukman Haruna Begs For Another Chance, Blames Weather For His Poor Performance

1 Min Read

Super Eagles midfielder Lukman Haruna as begged for another chance after he disappointed and was hauled off after 36 minutes against Tanzania at the weekend while blaming the unfriendly weather conditions in Tanzania for his unimpressive performance against the Taifa Stars in their Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

Tanzania held the Super Eagles to a goalless draw in the encounter.

South Korea 2007 FIFA Under-17 World Cup winner Haruna, who last featured for the Eagles at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, played behind striker Emmanuel Emenike before he was replaced by Sylvester Igboun before half time.

“It was not me against Tanzania because the weather really affected me,” AfricanFootball.com quoted Russian-based Haruna as saying on Monday.

“I hope I will be given another chance to show what I can really do.”

The Anzhi Makhachkala player has also represented Nigeria at Under-20 and Under-23 level.

Haruna joined Monaco following his impressive showing at the 2007 FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

He captained the Golden Eaglets at the tournament where they beat Spain 3-0 on penalties in the final.
