The All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange lost 1.17% today after a 4-day rally that saw a 7.42% gain, as speculators sought to take advantage of profits made as massive sell-off’s led to the Index closing at 29,870.86 basis points as opposed to the 30,225.34 basis points recorded at the close of business yesterday. Market Capitalization closed at N10.27 trillion.
The total value of transactions declined by 39.44% as against a 116.16% gain recorded yesterday. The volume of shares traded also declined by 53.14% as 439,661,354 shares were traded today. The number of deals recorded declined by 28.36% down from 6,065 deals recorded yesterday, as 4,345 deals were recorded today.
Top five most traded stock for today were ZENITHBANK, SKYEBANK, UBA, ACCESS and FBNH, with a combined total of 320 million shares traded.
Market breadth closed in the negative as TOTAL led 12 Gainers against 37 Losers led by FO.
The ASI closed in the red for the month of August with a 1.64% decline as against a 9.79% decline in the month of July.
