The World Bank is expected to grant about $6 million to Oyo state Government to complement the state effort in its socio economic development drive.
The leader of the World bank implementation mission on Youth Employment and social support programme Professor Foluso Okumadewa stated this during a courtesy call on Oyo state Governor senator Abiola Ajimobi at the Governor’s office Agodi Ibadan.
He said, “We want to commend you for your commitment enthusiasm and strong determination for the development of Oyo State as demonstrated through will ness in all intervention with which the World Bank had supported the state, we will to continue work with you so that the of Oyo state will benefit more in the next year of administration.”
He said Oyo State Government will continue to enjoy further support from the World Bank because of the commitment of the present administration to create employment opportunities for the youth and improve the social welfare of the people.
He said in the last six years the World Bank had supported the state with over 1billion Naira while over 500,000 people have benefitted from the World Bank projects form all the 33 local Government councils in the state.
In his remarks the Oyo state Governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi craved for the partnership of the World Bank in mechanized farming noting that Oyo state has a better agricultural advantages than other states in the south west.
Governor Ajimobi also initiated a negotiation for increase in counterpart funding in an attempt to reconcile the Oyo State YES O project to the World Bank Youth employment and social support project.
