E’Guinea hold Super Falcons to 1-1 draw

1 Min Read

The Nigerian Super Falcons secured a 1-1 draw, with their Equatorial Guinea counterparts in a well-played Rio 2016 Olympic qualifier at the National Stadium in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.

The first goal of the Saturday game came in the 23 minute through a volley by Nigeria’s Arimat Arinde while Chinata Okoro, a Nigerian playing for the Equatorial Guinea team equalised just before the first half break.

Both teams efforts in the second half of the game could not earn them a goal, as the match ended 1-1.

Addressing reporters after the match, Coach Christopher Danjuma regretted that the team could only secure a draw.

He, however, expressed adequate faith in the team to take maximum point in the return match in Equatorial Guinea next week.

The Captain of the team, Evelyn Nwabouku, was also optimistic that the team would do all they could to qualify for the 2016 Olympics game in Rio, Brazil.
