Having managed to attracted attract a burgeoning gay fan base, former boy band star Nick Jonas revealed not only is he thrilled to have them, but thinks other male singers should do more to cultivate a strong homosexual following.
The former Jonas Brothers favourite has become quite the icon due to his well-received eponymous album, which contained singles including as Chains and Teacher, as well as movie appearances in the likes of Careful What You Wish For and Camp Rock.
He told Attitude magazine: ‘There’s a thing of recognizing that you have gay fans, as a male artist.
‘I was speaking to some of my very close gay friends as I was making the record, and they told me I should really make the effort to embrace my gay audience as it’s bigger than I might think.’
The 22-year-old hunk, who recently split up with former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, is also hoping he is beating a path that others in the industry will follow.
He said: ‘There should be more heterosexual male artists who are comfortable enough to attract a gay audience and do it in a way that’s authentic. With me, it comes from a very genuine and loving place.’
