A yet-to-be-identified man has been arrested in Benue State for beheading his neighbour over land dispute.
According to reports, the suspect, a native of Igede committed the crime on Monday in Utonkon area of Ado local government area which shares border with Oju Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the two farmers have been at war with each other for a long time over a piece of land in the area.
According to them, both men met in the farm on Monday morning and a serious fight ensued between them. The suspect eventually overpowered the deceased and cut off his head.
He was said to have buried his half body in a shallow grave inside the farm and put the head inside a bag when he was caught by some villagers who reported the incident to the Otukpo police area command where the murderer is currently facing interrogation.
However, the Benue State Public Relations’ Officer ASP Austin Ezeala who confirmed it, said investigation is currently ongoing on the matter.
“Yes, the suspect is currently in the Otukpo area command where he is facing interrogation. He is a native of Oju LGA while his victim hailed from Ado LGA”, Ezeala said.
